What makes Amelia House the right nursery for your child?
We put the child at the heart of everything we do. An approach to learning based on over 100 years collective knowledge and experience in the early years sector. Wow! Even we were shocked when we added it up!
A daily programme of exciting activities such as Baby Boogie, Baby Yoga, Baby Picasso and Baby Einstein. And we haven’t forgotten about our older children who also get to experience Yoga, Mindfulness, Art, Music and Science activities as part of their weekly curriculum.

We want our wonderful childcare practitioners and educators to become part of the City Island Community; forming a deep bond with you and putting your child’s happiness and well-being at the heart of everything we do.
Community Ties
Our explicitly designed learning environments and curriculum encourage children to learn about and connect with their local community and the wider world. From the beginning of your child’s journey with us, we incorporate practices that support them to think about their environment and how we can take care of it.

Our Founders

With over 100 years of combined experience in childcare, education and business, you can be assured we know what we are doing. But we’re not dinosaurs! Here are some fun facts about our founders:
Beverly
Our CEO, a previous Ofsted inspector, with a proven track record of supporting nurseries large and small to deliver the highest quality early years education.
She once had to be rescued by a family on a pedalo, when she tried windsurfing for the first time.
Shila
Our nursery manager, already a trusted face on The Island, with over 30 years in the sector as a manager and educator.
Shila travelled around South East Asia for a year … and took her family!
Michelle
Well known on City Island for her business acumen and musical talent. For many years, she ran Gymboree Play & Music groups and has set up other nurseries in and around East London.
But did you know that she used to teach English in Spain to pre-schoolers, mostly through singing nursery rhymes!
Cleo
A new face to the island but has 30 years childcare experience working in early years and local authority education. Cleo also ran Gymboree Play and Music groups for 16 years.
Cleo's life experiences has led to her to meet some notable names including... The Queen!
